December 2012

Oh my, where as 2012 gone????  Its been a pretty exciting time over the last few weeks awaiting the regional results of the 2013 Wedding Industry Awards and I was super excited to be nominated by one of my March 2012 brides and then even more super excited to be short-listed for the second year running in the Make Up Artist category.  So many of my brides voted and a huge, huge thank you for taking the time ladies for voting for me.  Sadly, I didn't make the final, but was really elated to read some of the comments left by my brides, which were absolutely lovely!

“Dawn did hair and make-up not only for myself but also my 4 bridesmaids and my mother. One bridesmaid was sporting a pink mohican and Dawn managed to transform her into a Hollywood screen goddess circa 1940's - was absolutely stunning.”

“Dawn was a very friendly and professional make- up artist, she knew exactly what suited my skin and tones right. My makeup looked amazing on my Wedding day and I was extremely pleased with it. I would definitely recommend her to my friends.”

“I wasn't keen to have my make- up done professionally on my wedding day as i'm a true perfectionist but Dawn blew me away. She has a true eye for what is right and put quite simply she was amazing - i can't fault her work and am so so glad she was there with me throughout the whole wedding process.”

“Dawn was very professional, helpful and listened to my requirements. My make-up and hair looked great and she did the make-up for my maid of honour who never wears make-up and she couldn't believe how fabulous she felt (and looked) once dawn had finished. I will definitely recommend Dawn.”

“Fantastic advice professionally as well as being so friendly and a pleasure to share my morning with when i was so stressed! My make-up was outstanding and i was so thrilled with the overall look. Outstanding”

“Dawn is an extremely professional make-up and hair stylist. I could not fault her on anything from the moment I found her to my actual big day. She used make up that really complimented my skin tones and made my eyes look amazing. I would highly recommend her to any bridal party.”

“Dawn was super on the day. She got stuck in to it as soon as she arrived and kept me chatting when I started stressing. She was also wonderful with the family as they all converged into the bridal suite. She helped with flowers, tucking people straight then melted away like she was never there.”

Photoshoot at Greenwoods Stock

A bit of a dreary start to the day with the weather, but soon perked up when I arrived at Greenwoods in Stock for a photo shoot organised by Karen Borden from the Flower Mill, when I smelt the cinnamon and fresh coffee as I walked through to the library which was where we were getting all of our models ready for the day.

Our first model was the lovely Georgie Anne Onyett, who was modelling dresses from The Wedding Trousseau in Epping. My brief was to produce a sweet and innocent look which I think Tracy Williams captured perfectly. View more of Tracy's work at http://www.twsp.co.uk/

The beautiful bouquet of the most amazing smelling Lily of the Valley was created by Karen from The Flower Mill and the vintage hairpiece and earrings were created by Julia Beazley

I then moved on to hair and make up for the lovely Katie Harris one of the models for multi award winning Curvy Couture Bridal.  Curvy are the premier boutique in Essex exclusively dedicated to curvy plus size prides, uniquely offering the very best in plus size bridal gowns specially designed for the fuller figure.

Kate's first dress was a lace calf length dress which suited her perfectly so to go with this we piled her hair into a sleek bun with a side swept fringe, winged eyeliner and bright coral lips.........

The second dress was a full length pale pink romantic style with crystal detailing.......beautiful!

Kate was followed by Natasha in two of the most amazing coloured dresses so something more dramatic hair and make up wise was called for...............

A tiring but fun filled day as Tracy Williams is a most amazingly fun and creative photographer and you never know what she is going to ask the girls to do next..............and I am still waiting to see the sliding down the bannister shot!!!!!

September 2012 - Photo Shoots

I cannot believe how busy this year has been!  Its been fabulous, so many gorgeous brides, bridesmaids, mums and those just wanting to look fabulous for a special occasion.  Bookings are now coming in thick and fast for next year and it seems that this will be equally as busy.........romance is definitely alive and kicking!

I have had the most amazing year so far!  I have made some amazing new friends along the way and met some great people within the bridal industry all as equally passionate as I am about providing a great service.

September so far...............A Rock the Frock shoot with the fabulous Tracy Williams Studio Photography; this was a Gothic themed shoot for a recently married bride who wanted to wear her dress again and go for a completely different look!  We certainly achieved this and she was over the moon with the images that Tracy came up with.

A promotion for a Diner in Harold Hill resulted in a 50's styled shoot in the diner itself, again photographed by Tracy and working alongside fellow make up and hair artist, Lisa Alger and the original dresses being supplied and styled by Normal Jean Vintage and Vintage Inspired Clothing.

Next was a fantastic day spent at Prested Hall for a Supplier Photoshoot for members of The Essex Wedding Collection where I worked with some great suppliers all coming together to produce some gorgeous images and promotional material.........images to follow soon.

Congratulations to all of my Summer brides............. a few of which feature below.

As my wedding work has completely taken over my life, I will now only be carrying out selected beauty treatments due to the time constraint.  So those lovely ladies wanting lash extensions and eye treatments will still be able to book with me, but all other treatments I will be passing over to a colleague...........Dawn x

April 2012

Its been a while!  Its been eventful!

We have been busy preparing for "the move".  Half of the house now into the new one, and hopefully by the end of the week we will be fully moved in!

Congratulations to all of my lovely brides over the last few weeks, you know who you are, and remember I want all of those promised photos as I didn't get to see all of you in your dresses!  Huge congratulations to Deb who married her gorgeous Marine last November, love the scan of your little  "squiggle" due this year!  Lets hope its a "pink one" eh Deb!

After much excitement the Brit Chic Wedding Shoot at Great Hallingbury Manor took place last Thursday (5th April).  What a fab day, met some wonderful wedding related suppliers, who all worked brilliantly together and some of the images are absolutely wonderful.  So girls if you need any info on photographers, videographers, wedding planners, stationary/flowers/cakes, wedding entertainment, wedding dresses, entertainment and wedding jewellery for your big day then I can certainly point you in the right direction.

This Sunday sees me at The Essex Vintage Wedding Fair at The Shire Hall in Chelmsford (15th).  So if  you re thinking of having a vintage inspired wedding theme then come and see me for some ideas re hair and make up and maybe a mini demo.

A few of the photographs below taken by the very talented - Rachael Pereira, Tracy Williams and Louise and Sam at Pavonne Photograpy from the Brit Chic Shoot.

Where's January Gone?

Well its been a bit frantic so far! I don't see any change in the number of brides wanting to look absolutely perfect for their wedding day and it looks like 2012 will hopefully be as busy as ever. February is very busy and my first wedding this year being on the 18th at The Fennes, Bocking for the lovely Michelle.  Engagement party make up and hair next week for Sam who got engaged to Floyd on Christmas day 2011. April seems to be the month for me, having had the total of 6 requests for the 14th!  May and June are also filling up fast, and I have also had 2 requests for dates in 2013 for a couple of obviously well organised brides.

January has been a mixture of bridal hair and make up trials for Spring brides and a constant stream of "lash addicts" returning for their infills after having them for the Christmas/New Year party season and becoming addicted!

I have also re-vamped my website, so take a look and let me know what you all think?  Its a lot sleeker and hopefully easier to understand as I thought my original site was a little confusing as I was learning at the time.  http://www.dawntaylorbeauty.co.uk

Moving house is imminent as the house we bought last year is almost ready to move into.  My lovely hubby has built me a purpose built studio at the back of the house which is going to give me a lot more space, and where I can also showcase a selection of wedding related suppliers that I can recommend.

Don't forget I also provide Lash Extensions and Spray Tanning at Tranquility Nails and Beauty and am there Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week.  Tranquility is the "go to" place for your nail extensions girls! 01245 382042.
